Welcome to the Inconceivable Adventures of Parenthood!
Please let us introduce ourselves! We are Dani and Chris… We moved to Virginia, USA from the rolling hills of the Cotswolds, UK in 2013. Although we speak the same language, life in the US is a little different to living in the UK. Our amazing daughter Aviana was born in the US in December 2016 just 5lbs 1oz as she suffered from Intra Uterine Growth Restriction (IUGR).

Our new family of three – Dani, Aviana and Chris
Becoming parents wasn’t easy for us as we battled infertility. The moment Aviana arrived into our world we were instantly smitten with her. We had hoped and dreamed of becoming mummy and daddy for so long, you would have thought we were well prepared! But no amount of classes, reading, family story telling or googling can prepare you for the whirlwind of becoming a parent.
This blog is a place for us to share our adventures in parenting. It’s a place to vent, it’s a place for us to communicate with other parents, it’s a place to reflect openly on the things we have learned – the good, the bad and the ugly. We may also talk about the observed differences between the UK and US as we navigate our way through the maze of advice, hints and tips on being awesome parents.
Sometimes we may talk about infertility, just because we have a daughter now it doesn’t mean our infertility has been cured. We are still infertile. Our perspectives on family may differ as our lenses have been coloured by the disease, both in the past and in the future.
Please join in the discussions by leaving us your thoughts in the comments section in each blog post! We would love to hear what you think
If you want to know more about our infertility journey, I have a separate blog where you can find out more about how our family grew from 2 to 3…and may be in the future it will grow again! I will still be blogging here on IF related posts. Visit her at www.thegreatpuddingclubhunt.com

Ps. We are just getting this site up and running so forgive the cosmetics as we construct our blog home!
I so relate to this statement: “We are still infertile. Our perspectives on family may differ as our lenses have been coloured by the disease, both in the past and in the future.”

Oh, don’t mind me, I am just incredibly late to the party!! Firstly, I want to say congrats!! Aviana is beautiful! I have been absent for a very long time, but I am trying to catch back up, which is much harder than I thought it would be, especially with a super active toddler that doesn’t sit still for more than 3.5 seconds. You’ve been on my mind and I had planned to stick around WordPress, but somehow the days off turned into weeks and those turned into months. Life seems to go by in the blink of an eye these days. I am planning to go back and read through what you guys have been up to in the last several months, but in the meantime, I just wanted to say that I really love seeing you so happy and I’m glad to have stumbled onto your new home here now that you are a member of the pudding club! 🙂

Oh hey Ashley!!!! How are you?! Yes I can understand! I was off the blogs for just two weeks and it flew by! I’ve been trying to spend as much of my free time with Aviana and preparing to go back to work 😭 I can sum up what we have been up to – surviving 🤗 Aviana is adorable, we are lucky she is just that. I’m pretty much sure everything else on here is what every new parent goes through!!! It’s great to hear from you! Hope you are doing well??? A TODDLER!!! Yes time does fly by when you put it like that! I thought of you and your family when I was back in London airport in March and there was a whole section of a store dedicated to Paddington bear.

Aw, Paddington! ❤️ We ended up making that the theme for our nursery, and Ross loves the one we bought in London for him almost 3 years ago. We keep it on his bookcase and he likes to take him down, hug & kiss him, and then pat him on the back a few times; I love it! It’s hard to believe but two days ago was the two-year anniversary of our embryo transfer with him. And yes, now he is somehow a toddler. Idk how that’s even possible! 🤔 I’m looking forward to keeping up with your parenting adventures, though I know already you guys are fantastic parents! I’ll definitely be thinking about you tomorrow as you start work. It will be tough to go back, but you are such a strong woman– just look at what you’ve fought through to get here. Sending lots of love 💗💗💗
